* Puhó, 28 May 1793 – † Pest, 13 January 1872 / politician, lord, patron, member of the board of directors of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1863) ; ; The last male line of the Marczibányi family of Puhó. From 1812 he worked in the service of Trenčín County (servant judge, chief servant judge, chief tax collector, then a member of parliament for the county, and finally its lord). His thinking was characterized by liberalism and anti-conservatism. After the failure of the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848/49, he was interned in Bratislava, and was finally able to buy his freedom with a fine of 50,000 forints. After that, he retired from politics, but continued to be interested in the cause of national scholarship and Hungarian literature. He also excelled as a patron. He participated in the founding of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as early as 1830, and was later elected a member of the board of directors (in January 1863). He supported the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with significant sums of money, the Marczibányi Foundation, established by his uncle, István Marczibányi (1752–1810) and managed by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1847, and the National Theatre.
