In 1906 he graduated in philosophy in Bratislava, in 1912 in theology in Innsbruck, and in 1915 he obtained a teaching certificate in history and Latin at the University of Budapest. Between 1914 and 1922 he was a dormitory teacher in Pécs and Kalocsa. From 1922 he taught biology, philosophy and rhetoric at the Jesuit College of Philosophy in Szeged.
