* Merény, September 14, 1712 – Bratislava, March 12, 1782 / naturalist, Lutheran pastor ; ; His father, Klein Izrael, was a pastor. He completed his theological studies in Prešov, Bratislava and Halle, and attended the winter semester at the University of Jena in 1733. Upon his return, he first tutored a merchant in Levoča, then served as a pastor in Bártfa, Körmöcbánya, and later in Bratislava. He was engaged in diverse literary activities and was a member of numerous foreign scientific societies. Several of his works, such as a land description and a German orthography with his own system, remained in manuscript. His son, János Sámuel Klein, a pastor from Košice, was the author of the notable collection of data that saved many important memories from the lives of pastors from oblivion (Nachrichten von den Lebensanständen und Schriften evangelischer Prediger in allen Gemeinen des Königreichs Ungarn). ; ; His main works: ; Die Rechnungstabellen, 1751, ; Sammlung merkwürdigster Naturseltenheiten des Königreichs Ungarn (also published in Hungarian translation in 1814), 1778.
