Otto Gratz

* Gölnicbánya, November 30, 1879 – † Budapest, May 6, 1956 / veterinarian, dairy expert, writer ; ; younger brother of politician and publicist Adolf Gratz Gusztáv. After his father, a Lutheran pastor, became the priest of the Lutheran congregation in Cluj-Napoca, he completed his secondary education at the Economic Institute in Cluj-Napoca, and then received a veterinary diploma from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest in 1902. From 1904 he was a teacher at the Economic Academy in Magyaróvár. He primarily dealt with the scientific and practical development of the Hungarian dairy industry. In 1909 he became the director of the Magyaróvár Dairy Experimental Station and held this position for 24 years. He is credited with boosting the cheese production in Mosonmagyaróvár and introducing the production of processed cheese and Emmental cheese to Hungary.
