He began his school studies in his hometown, then graduated from the Royal Catholic Gymnasium in Bratislava. Between 1873 and 1878 he studied at the Technical University first in Pest and then in Vienna, but eventually chose not to be an engineer, but mathematics and primarily dealt with descriptive geometry. Between 1878 and 1887 he taught “drawing” geometry and freehand drawing at the Royal Catholic Gymnasium in Bánya-Biszterce. Meanwhile, in 1883 he received his doctorate in mathematics, experimental physics and theoretical astronomy from the University of Cluj-Napoca. From 1887, as a department head professor at the Mining and Forestry Academy (later a college) in Selmecbánya, he primarily lectured on descriptive geometry. He was also the rector of the institution on two occasions: in 1904–1906 and in 1910–1912. He was one of the preparers of the reorganization of the three-year academic education into a four-year college education. After 1918, he also left for Sopron, where he reorganized the Department of Descriptive Geometry. He also taught geography and cartography. He is considered one of the pioneers of descriptive geometry education in Hungary, and his textbooks, which were published several times, were still used in secondary school and university education decades after his death. He often prepared the drawings for his colleagues' textbooks.
