* Gölnicbánya, July 28, 1844 – † Budapest, April 11, 1935 / ophthalmologist, physician-general ; ; He completed his secondary schooling in Prešov, Nagyvárad and Nagyszombat. In 1861 he enrolled at the University of Pest, where he obtained his doctorate in medicine in 1866. In 1869 he became a private tutor in ophthalmology at the university. It was then that he performed the famous operation in which he removed a lodged bullet from the eye socket of János Labát, whose right eye was shot out during the 1848/49 War of Independence, but the bullet remained in his eye socket. The press of the time also reported on the case. He was a physician in Pest for a few years, and also treated Mihály Táncsics. In 1872 he moved to Košice, where he worked as a practicing physician and entered the army with the rank of staff physician. In 1896 he was appointed commander of the 5th Health Department of the Ministry of Defense and in 1897 he was promoted to chief physician. From then on he lived in Budapest until his death. In 1868 he translated a German textbook into Hungarian, which was published under the title A szémeszték készékésze. He published numerous ophthalmological articles and communications.
