Lord's Day procession 1

One of the great holidays of Catholics is the Lord's Day, two weeks after Pentecost, when the Blessed Sacrament is carried around. The procession is always held on the Sunday following Thursday. This day is the most solemn confession of belonging to the church. Preparations for it begin long before. They discuss which streets and in front of whose house the altar will be. In our village, too, they usually set up four altars, one in Alszeg and three in Főszeg. The tools necessary to make the altar are usually provided by the families. The young people provide and put it together. A week before the holiday, the women organize their relatives and acquaintances to collect rose petals and give them to the decorators. They also decorate the area in front of the tent with the petals, or put them in the little girls' baskets so that they can scatter petals in front of the Blessed Sacrament during the procession.
