Ógyallai at the venue of the World Eucharistic Congress in Budapest in 1938

Mrs. Kaveckyné Mária Psenák (b. 1931) visited Heroes' Square with her parents before the World Congress in 1938 as a girl. The photo was taken by her father István Psenák (b. 1903 - d. 1996). Mrs. Kaveckyné told us a lot about the local history of Ógyalla, from her we heard the exact location of the old windmill, and also from her for the first time about the Roma holocaust in Ógyalla, which she witnessed when the Gypsy women were marched towards Komárom. Aunt Marika told us that she was the model for Masa Feszty, along with two of her childhood friends. She remembered Gézá Wollner - one of the founding members of our Csemadok Foundation, and told us about today's Hársfa Street and its immediate surroundings (the so-called poorhouse on Szabadság Street, the gendarmerie chief's house on Hársfa Street at the intersection of Görbe Street).
