* Radvány, November 9, 1869 – † Budapest, April 25, 1934 / smelting engineer, outstanding personality of Hungarian iron and steel industry ; ; He completed his secondary school studies in Bratislava. He received his diploma in 1890 at the Mining and Forestry Academy in Selmecbánya, where he was an assistant teacher with Vilmos Sóltz (®Svedlér). From 1894 he was an engineer at the Rimamurány-Salgótarjáni Vasmű Rt., in 1904 its chief engineer, from 1905 the director of the company's Ózd plant, from 1910 the central technical director of the Budapest general management, from 1927 its technical director. The Borsodnádasd cold rolling mill, which was considered one of the most modern in its time, is his creation. He is credited with establishing or expanding many factory schools, hospitals and cultural institutions, as well as building housing estates and supporting factory workers' own house-building cooperatives with advantageous loans, which was a unique initiative in Hungary at the time. He was the honorary and three-time elected president of the National Hungarian Mining and Metallurgical Association. In 1936, the Association established the Zorkóczy Samu Memorial Medal in his honor, with which it awards its worthy members. He was the president of the Hungarian Materials Testers Association and the vice president of the Budapest Chamber of Engineers.
