Zoboralji Private Vocational High School for Entrepreneurs

The last Hungarian-language secondary education institution in Nyitra and its surroundings was the Hungarian section of the Nyitra gymnasium. However, it closed its doors in the 1980s and continued to teach only in Slovak. For about three decades, it was not possible to take the final exam in Hungarian in the Nyitra area. After the Velvet Revolution, the intellectuals of the Hungarian community in Zoboralja considered several options, but failed to find a good solution. Finally, Boldizsár Paulisz and Lajos Ladányi, using the almost completely completed building in Alsóbodok by the former entrepreneur, solved the issue of the secondary school. Numerous legal and political obstacles had to be overcome in order for the first grade to open in the new building in the 2000/2001 academic year. At that time, the entrepreneurship class was still operating as a branch class of the Udvard vocational secondary school. A year later, it became independent under the name Zoboralji Vállalkozói Magán-Szakközépiskola (unofficial) and later, in recognition of its successes, it received international accreditation (official name: Hungarian-medium Magán Szakközépiskola, Alsóbodok). In 2003, the European accreditation organization for secondary and higher education, the International Education Society (IES), awarded its quality with a worldwide accreditation, which entitles the educational institution to issue certificates of recognition in English. Later, tourism departments were also opened in the educational institution. The school, as the only Hungarian-medium secondary educational institution in Zoboralji, is still in operation today and offers its graduates a wide range of career opportunities. It recruits its students not only from Zoboralji, but also from larger areas (Léva, etc.).
