Zoboralja Museum

The Zoboralja Museum in Alsóbodok is the only facility of its kind in the region. It presents selected pieces from the private collection of Sándor Fehér and Ivett Fehér Pindes in two large rooms in the building of the only Hungarian secondary school in Zoboralja. It focuses on the natural treasures, history and traditional culture of Zoboralja, but in some cases also encompasses the larger areas of Nitra and Bars. It mainly presents the following groups of objects: ; - minerals, rocks and fossils of the historical Nitra and Bars counties (calcites, quartz varieties, rare lazuli, etc.), an ancient petrified tree trunk, gold grains washed out of a stream, an authentic piece of the only meteorite from the Nitra area (Rumanova), but you can also visit an exhibition herbarium presenting the characteristic plant species of the Zobori Mountains, ; - a small selection of archaeological finds from old collections (from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages) and historical documents from the area around Nyitra from the earliest times to the present day (documents signed by Maria Theresa and Franz Joseph, World War II memorabilia, etc.); - exhibits presenting the lives of personalities from the region (valuable manuscripts, publications and other legacies of nobles and church leaders, e.g. presentation of János Esterházy, Ilona Gyulai-Edelsheim, Geraldine Apponyi, Móric Benyovszky, Pál Tesák); - documents of science and culture (publications and manuscripts from the fields of biology, medicine, physics, astronomy, weather research, etc.); - exhibition objects of regional Hungarian literature and art (selected works, dedications, first editions by personalities of the region, e.g. Pál Ányos, Mihály Táncsics, Sándor Finta, Jenő Heltai, István Örkény, Emil Grandpierre of Kolozsvári, László Mártonvölgyi, Károly Lyka, József Mészáros, etc.), ; - original engraving collection presenting the city of Nyitra, the surrounding castles, folk costumes and historical maps from the 17th to the 19th centuries (a unique collection of more than 30 pieces, including the first map of Nyitra County by Sámuel Mikoviny from 1739), historical and contemporary postcards of villages around Nyitra (from the 19th century to the present day), ; - stone collection (large-scale samples of minerals, rocks and fossils, millstones, architectural elements), a collection of stamped bricks from the historical Nitra and Bars counties, ; - ethnographic collection divided into two sections – folk costumes and traditional folk occupations (agriculture, viticulture, textile production, food preparation, ceramics and woodworking), ; - relics of church life (manuscripts, pictures, books, original letters from Nitra-born Ottokár Prohászka, Bishop Vilmos Batthány, etc., old harmonium, bell, late Baroque altar decorations, etc.), scout history, life and culture of Jewish communities (original material relics of local Jewish culture, books of Nitra rabbis, menorah and seder plate from local workshops, original painting by Shraga Weil, etc.), ; The museum hosts many events (museum night, anniversary celebrations, etc.).
