* Nagybalog, February 9, 1936 – † Bratislava, July 17, 1993 / mathematician, university ; teacher ; ; He completed his high school studies in Komárom (1954), and obtained a diploma in mathematics from the Comenius University in Bratislava (1959). He taught at a high school in Píszká for one year, then moved to Bratislava, where he was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology from 1960 to 1968, later an assistant professor, from 1968 an associate professor at the Comenius University, from 1980 a professor and in the same year he became a doctor of mathematical sciences (DrSc.). In the late 1960s, together with Lajos Turczel (Ipolyszalka), he initiated the mathematics-Hungarian language and literature specialization at the Comenius University. His research areas were number theory and graph theory. He wrote 29 scientific papers alone, and 23 studies in collaboration with others. He formulated and studied the number theory problem named after him. He paid great attention to the training of young mathematicians. He lectured as a guest lecturer in Canada and Australia several times. He also edited mathematical journals (1970–1971: Matematické obzory, 1989–1993: Acta Mathematica Univ. Comeniana). He was in close contact with excellent foreign mathematicians, including Hungarians (Pál Erdős, Béla Bollobás, etc.). He was one of the founders and president until his death of the (Czech)-Slovak Hungarian Scientific Society. He also engaged in scientific dissemination, and his activities were recognized with the SZTA award in 1980. He translated Hungarian and English mathematical textbooks into Slovak (Alfréd Rényi: Dialogues on Mathematics, Survey of Modern Algebra). His manuscript legacy is still awaiting processing.
