* Győr, November 25, 1783 – † Bánya, February 20, 1864 / naturalist, teacher ; ; He studied philosophy and theology at the Lutheran Lyceum in Bánya and then in Bratislava. In 1803–1807 he taught at the André educational institution in Brünn. In 1807 he founded a girls' school and educational institution in Bánya, which he led himself, but in addition he taught natural history, primarily mineralogy, at the Evangelical gymnasium. In 1815–1817 he went on a study trip to Prussia and Poland, but in the meantime he also worked on his mineralogical handbook, which he considered his main work, which was published in Sopron in 1817 under the title Versuch eines topographisch-mineralogischen Handbuches von Ungarn. In it he summarized the most significant mineral occurrences of Hungary. The data from this book were used by the French mineralogist and geologist F. S. Beudant (1787–1850) in his geological monograph about his trip to Hungary in 1818. He was there at the 3rd traveling meeting of Hungarian doctors and naturalists held in Besztercebánya, and he published a book about it in German in 1846. Zipser was an excellent teacher and thorough naturalist. He recognized the importance of establishing a society that would set the goal of describing the geology of Hungary and at the same time give new impetus to Hungarian mining. He also gave a lecture on this at the traveling meeting of Hungarian Doctors and Naturalists held in Sopron in August 1847. Of course, he was also there on January 3, 1848, at the meeting in the Kubinyi brothers’ mansion in Videfalva that decided to establish the Hungarian Geological Society. The first general meeting of the Society was not held until July 6, 1850, due to the events of 1848/49. ; ; His main works: Bistriţa és vidéke, 1842, ; Die Versammlung ungarischer Aerzte und Naturforscher, 1846.
