In 1948, he went to Switzerland and then to Canada, where he was a lecturer at Canadian and American universities. He wrote studies and books in Hungarian, English, and French on the literature of the Rákóczi War of Independence, on Imre Madách, János Arany, and on the influence of classical Hungarian literature on the literature of neighboring nations. In an English-language book, he analyzes the fate of the Hungarians in Czechoslovakia from Trianon to the First Vienna Arbitral Award, The Hungarian Minority in the First Czechoslovak Republic, 1918–1939, 1981.
