Ruins of Ironworks (Bad Works)
Other - other
In the 18th and 19th centuries, based on the rich iron ore deposits, several iron processing plants were established in the Murány River valley. One of them was the blast furnace built on the border of the villages of Beretke and Melléte, which was actively operating in the years 1773 - 1780. It was probably established by expanding a previous ironworks building built in the 1600s. It was primarily used to produce pig iron, but it could also have played a role as a foundry smelter. It received important iron ore for its operation from the Beretke mine and the iron ore mines of the surrounding settlements, Melléte, Tiba, Sánkfalva and Lice. The remains of the buildings built of stone and brick are now completely overgrown with forest. The ruins can best be approached from the tourist path on the banks of the Murány.
