* Felsővály, 30 September 1765 – † Sárospatak ?, 15 January 1820 / Reformed priest, college teacher ; ; He completed his secondary school studies in Sárospatak and Miskolc. In 1783–1793 he taught in Miskolc, then studied theology, philosophy, natural science and ancient literature for two years at the University of Zurich. Due to the events in France, he returned home and was an assistant pastor and then a preacher in Csát and Dorogmá until 1798. From 1798 he taught humanities at the college in Sárospatak. Towards the end of his life he lectured on theology and church history. He translated the works of ancient Greek authors, primarily Homer, into Hungarian. The Iliad translation led to a literary dispute between Ferenc Kazinczy and Ferenc Kölcsey, after Ferenc Vályi Nagy received Kölcsey's translation from Kazinczy and used certain parts of it. He wrote poems, memorial speeches, literary studies, Verstan papers, and treatises on church topics. He exchanged numerous letters with Kazinczy between 1808 and 1813.
