The village of Vága became part of Hungary again

Other - other

Vága, perhaps March 14, 1939; Governor Miklós Horthy issued his military order on November 4, 1938: “Defenders! After twenty years of difficult waiting, our defense forces, liberated from the shackles of Trianon and reborn, are crossing the border that we have always considered temporary. One million of our brothers are waiting for you over there! After two decades of severe trials for them, you represent the fulfillment of all their hopes and desires. You have returned home to our Highlands, sanctified so many times with the precious blood of our ancestors! May this feeling fill your souls, and in keeping with the glorious past of our defense forces, you will lovingly embrace every inhabitant of the regained ancient Hungarian land, Hungarians, our Slovak, Ruthenian and German brothers alike. I send you on your way with pride and confidence, with the sure knowledge that by the right of eternal justice, with the help of the Hungarian Force that has risen to new life, we will never again abandon the territories we have regained under any pretext! In the name of God and the Homeland: FORWARD!”
