* Galánta, January 18, 1949 – / pediatrician, university professor, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences ; ; When he was two months old, his parents moved to Hungary, Törökbálint, and he began his school studies there. He received his medical degree from the Semmelweis University of Medicine (SOTE) in Budapest in 1974. His fields of expertise are neonatology, hypertonology and nephrology. He primarily deals with the hormonal regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance and the examination of kidney function in premature infants. He was the first to describe the causes of transient renal failure in newborns suffering from respiratory distress. In 1992, he was appointed head professor of the Department of Pediatrics No. 1. He was the rector of the SOTE from 2003 to 2011. In 2001, he became a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and in 2007, a full member.
