His career ran parallel to that of his younger brother, Gusztáv Tomcsányi, and he also applied the methods developed by him in the areas entrusted to him (e.g. the use of heated seed grinders). His articles were published in the Forestry Journals; His main work A description of the transport system applied in the treasury forests along the Garam River (1895) c. It is considered his study, which, in addition to a thorough description of ancient water transport, also contains the history of the Garam Valley forests, compiled based on the abundant data sources of the centuries-old cameral archives, which he researched.
