* Bratislava, July 24, 1870 – † Sopron, July 29, 1937 / linguist, literary historian, university professor, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1934) ; ; Son of Zsigmond Lehr (1841–1871), teacher and literary translator, nephew of linguist Albert Lehr (1844–1924). He earned a doctorate in humanities from the University of Budapest in 1892. From 1893 he was a teacher at the Bratislava Evangelical Lyceum, from 1897 at the Budapest Evangelical High School, and from 1906 at the Erzsébet Nőiskola civil teacher training institute. From 1925 he was a public full professor at the University of Pécs. For a long time he led the compilation work of the new great dictionary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His work as a philological researcher is also characterized by his high level of education and taste. He successfully dealt with the study of the migration, interweaving and changes of words, sayings, songs and fairy tale motifs.
