He began his high school studies in Sajógömör, then completed the next six years at the Késmárk Lyceum. In 1820–1824, he was a pharmacist's assistant to the pharmacist István Maleter of Jolsva. After passing the practical exam, he studied chemistry and botany at the University of Pest in 1824–1825. From Pest, he went to Vienna, where he obtained his pharmacy diploma, and then worked as a pharmacist at the Kígyó pharmacy in Pest between 1827 and 1831. In 1831, he bought the Fehér swantyúhoz pharmacy from Dániel Barts in Debrecen and operated there until his death. On July 30, 1848, as a captain of the national guard, he prevented an angry crowd from lynching captured Austrian officers, for which he was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit with a Crown by the Vienna court in 1852. He was one of the promoters of grape and fruit growing in Hungary and a describer of Hungarian fruit varieties. He was also involved in the meteorological observations, the network of which was organized by the director of the “imperial and royal institute of meteorological phenomena” in Vienna, Karl Kreil (1798–1862), and had 18 observation sites in Hungary. ; ; His main works: ; History of Pharmacy, 1883, ; Additions from the History of Chemistry, 1884.
