* Bratislava, February 15, 1801 – † Bratislava, January 26, 1881 / orientalist, philologist, translator, Sanskritologist, teacher ; ; He came from an Evangelical family, studied at the Bratislava Evangelical Lyceum, where in 1822 he taught in the first grammar class as a substitute teacher for half a year. After that, he continued his studies at the newly opened Protestant theological faculty in Vienna. After a year and a half, he returned to his homeland and taught for a while. After the opportunity again opened for Protestants to study at foreign universities, Tamáskó went to Göttingen, where he studied Sanskrit and Arabic for two years. Upon his return home, he became the director of the upper bourgeois school in Bazin. From 1838, he was the headmaster of the Bratislava Evangelical Lyceum. He was a teacher of the syntax department of the lyceum, and from 1862 he also accepted a teaching position at a girls' school in Bratislava and taught there until his retirement in 1872. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his palatine, he greeted Archduke Joseph in Sanskrit poetry in 1846.
