From 1905 he was assigned to the consulate of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in Bucharest, then to the joint foreign ministry in Vienna. In 1907 he was vice-consul in Monastir, in 1909 in Mitrovica. From the autumn of 1913 he served in Baghdad, then in Mosul and Constantinople until the collapse of the Monarchy. During the organization of the independent Hungarian foreign service, from 1920 he was head of the diplomatic mission in Prague with the title of II. class. Counselor of the Embassy until 1922. March. 24. At this time, he was also actively involved in the Czechoslovak-Hungarian diplomatic negotiations, which yielded only very modest results, mainly due to Edvard Beneš's position of rejecting compromises. From 1920 he was an extraordinary envoy and minister plenipotentiary, and from 1924 he was the envoy to Ankara. ; During this time, he worked hard to save the Rákóczi House in Rodostó. He also managed to involve the Turkish government in the action: he obtained the necessary permits to purchase the house, which was in very poor condition but was located in a favorable location, and then convinced the Hungarian government that it was important to save this memorial site. The Hungarian state provided 50,000 pengő for this purpose. Finally, the rebuilt Rákóczi House in Rodostó was solemnly inaugurated on October 24, 1933, during the official visit to Turkey of the then Hungarian Prime Minister Gyula Gömbös. From 1934, he was ambassador to Bern and head of the delegation to the League of Nations. From January 1935, he was prime minister in the Gömbös government, then state secretary for the interior until May 1938. From 1935 to 1939, he was a government representative for Balassagyarmat. His remains were placed in the family chapel in Százd.
