* Nyitra, March 19, 1858 – † Budapest, September 9, 1924 / historian, archivist, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1918) ; ; He completed his studies at the University of Budapest. In 1879, he joined the National Archives and worked there until his retirement (1919). He played a significant role in the development of Hungarian economic and social history research, as well as in the development of domestic archival affairs. Between 1894 and 1901, he edited the Magyar Gazdaságtörténelmi Szemlé (from 1897 with Alajos Paikert), where several of his important studies were published. He wrote the column “archival sources” accompanying some of the main articles of the Közgazdasági Lexikon. He had a memorable debate with László Erdélyi (Zsigárd) on the issues of social history in the Árpád era. He was a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1897, elected a full member in 1918, and was the president of the Hungarian Ethnographic Society between 1920 and 1924. He primarily conducted ethnographic research on legal customs and social life, and urged the processing of such topics.
