* Bánka, 9 August 1805 – † Selmecbánya, 25 November 1852 / high school teacher in Losonc, botanist ; ; Little is known about his life. In the 1840s, he was a teacher at the Losonc high school, and he also raised several of his students [János Fábry, János Kunsz (Losonc) and others] to love botany. In 1843, he received the prize of the Hungarian Natural History Society for his paper entitled The mountain dombor (Dondia epipactis) as the rarest plant of our country. He was a researcher of the flora of the highlands and one of the founders of plant phenology in our region. His first herbarium was destroyed by fire in 1849, and his second plant collection supposedly numbered 825 specimens.
