Zoltán Szilassy

* Léva, May 8, 1864 – † Budapest, February 5, 1932 / farmer, professional writer ; ; He completed his elementary and secondary school education in his hometown and in Nagyszombat between 1870 and 1882. He obtained his farmer's diploma in 1884 at the Academy of Economics in Magyaróvár. Between 1885 and 1892 he worked at the Department of Plant Production alongside Sándor Cserháti. Between 1889 and 1893 he made several European (Germany, France, England, Bulgaria) and American study trips. At the end of the 1880s, it was at his suggestion that the Deliblát sand wasteland was started to be utilized with vineyards. In 1892, he was the executive secretary of the National Hungarian Economic Association (OMGE), and its director from 1920 to 1926 until his retirement. From 1905, he was the president of the National Beekeeping Association. He carried out extensive agricultural journalistic work as the editor of Köztelek (1894–1906, 1915–1926), Független Újság (1905–1908), Gazdák Független Újságja (1909–1913), Magyar Földműves (1914–1918) and Magyar Méh (1921–1932).
