He completed his university studies in Nagyszombat and Vienna. From 1667 he was a teacher in Nagyszombat, Graz and Munich, from 1676–1679 he taught at the Pazmaneum in Vienna, and from 1688 until his death he lived in Nagyszombat. In 1690–1693 he was rector of the college and university, and in 1673 the Archbishop of Esztergom appointed him chief censor, in which the king (Lipot I) confirmed him in 1688. From 1675 until his death he edited the Nagyszombat calendar (Calendarium Tyrnaviense). From 1687 he managed and modernized the Nagyszombat printing house, and also established two paper mills in the city. He was interested in agricultural and natural sciences, summarized the scientific knowledge of his time, was the first to introduce several plants in Hungary, and also became involved in religious disputes with his polemical works. His collection of laws, which for the first time bears the title Corpus Juris Hungarici (1696), deserves mention. For a long time, the belief persisted that he was the pioneer of the Hungarian periodical press, after literary historian Jenő Pintér classified the publication Ephemerides Latinae (1675–1703) as a newspaper, which was actually a kind of scientific diary (ephemeris = diary), in which he collected various topics (e.g. agricultural work, quotations from the Holy Fathers, sayings, death dates of prominent people, etc.). ; ; His main works: ; Curiosiora et selectora variarum scientiarum miscellanea (I – III.), 1689 – 1702, ; Quindecim dilemmata Dominis Acatholicis…oblata, 1699, ; Viginti quatuor dubia, 1700, Oeconomica philosophica (I – II.), 1746.
