Statue of Saint Stephen in Ajnácskő

Ajnácskő is located in the southern part of the Bánya-Biszterce district of the Upper Hungary. In addition to the Ajnácskő Castle and the Church of the Assumption, another attraction was added to the village in 2016: on August 20, a wooden statue of Saint Stephen was erected in the square next to the church. The idea was given by the Ajnácskő intellectuals. The village's population is of Hungarian nationality. They still cherish their traditions to this day, and Hungarian history is important to them, the most significant ruler of which is Saint Stephen I. This is where the idea came from to have his statue stand in the square. The work of art was carved from a 110-year-old oak tree by János Lukács, a sculptor from Szeps.
