The inauguration of the first street name sign in Nagymegyer after the change of regime was on August 19, 1990. It was initiated by parish priest László Kovács, and the initiative was also supported by mayor Vilmos Családi. The event took place in front of the Roman Catholic church, and one of the main streets of the city was renamed Szent István utca instead of the former Győzelmes Február utca. The Nagymegyer choir participated in the event.
