Gyula Stollar

* Komárom, April 24, 1844 – † Košice, January 15, 1892 / chemist and winemaker ; ; He completed his secondary school studies in Komárom and his university studies in Vienna in 1865. From 1869 he was an assistant professor at the Economic Institute in Magyaróvár, and from 1874 he was the head professor of the chemistry department at the Economic Institute in Košice. He regularly published articles on the analysis of medicinal waters, new methods of agricultural chemical technology and winemaking. His paper discussing the relationship between the specific gravity and sugar content of beets was also recognized abroad. He did pioneering work in Hungary in the field of the utilization of winemaking by-products. He developed the theory of cognac production and designed a cognac-making device, for the use of which he organized courses. He was a main contributor to the Gyakorlati Mezőgazda and Borászati Lapok. ; ; Main work: ; Must preparation with steam, 1886.
