* Bratislava, September 18, 1842 – † Budapest, April 14, 1914 / paleobotanist, teacher, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1898) ; ; He began his career as a teacher in 1858, during which he studied at the University of Pest, and in 1869–1870 at the University of Berlin and Bonn, and in 1868 he obtained a natural history teacher's diploma in Pest. From 1867 he was a teacher at the Buda Realiskola, and from 1874 until his death at the Praktívlo Gymnasium. His interest was primarily focused on paleobotany. He first researched the flora of the area around Fiume. During his phytophenological studies (1871–1900), he switched to paleontology and became the founder of scientific paleophytology in Hungary. He processed plant data from many Hungarian fossil sites. He was one of the instigators of the establishment of the teaching material museum. From 1899 he was the director of the museum. He was a member of the Hungarian Geological Society, its secretary in 1886–1899 and the editor of the Geological Gazette.
