* Levoca, July 22, 1627 – † Levoca, May 27, 1684 / physician, city judge ; ; son of Sámuel Spielenberger, father of Dávid Spielenberger Jr. He began his studies in his hometown, then in 1650 he became a student at the University of Wittenberg. Later he studied medicine in Leiden, Basel, and finally obtained his medical doctor's degree in Padua. Upon returning home, he took up the position of city physician in Levoca, which had become vacant thanks to his father, and was elected city judge twice. In August 1659, he married a wealthy woman, so he could give up his medical practice and start dealing with the much more profitable mining business. Later, however, the city continued to use his medical services and advice when the occasion arose. He occasionally published articles in the German journal Miscellanea curiosa medico-physica academiae naturae curiosorum, which are also interesting from an ethnographic point of view. According to György Buchholtz, he also used garnets found in the High Tatras in his healing work.
