Ferenc Sövényházi

* Ipolyság, October 5, 1899 – † Szeged, November 23, 1980 / lawyer, university professor ; ; He began his school studies in his hometown. He studied law at the Budapest University of Science and Technology between 1917 and 1921, where he obtained a doctorate in political science in 1924 and a doctorate in law in 1925. He also studied at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Science and Technology between 1921 and 1922. He was a legal trainee at the Pest County Court between 1923 and 1929, then a court clerk, and a secretary at the Ministry of Justice between 1929 and 1932. He was a court judge between 1932 and 1940, then a ministerial advisor. From 1940 to 1944 he was a public university professor of commercial bill law at the University of Cluj-Napoca. From 1944 to 1948 he was a professor of comparative Romanian-Hungarian commercial law at the Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. In 1948 he returned to Hungary and although he was invited to the University of Szeged, he was not allowed to hold the teaching position, and was finally forced to retire in 1951. After that, he worked in various clerical positions at various companies (payroll clerk, technician, administrator). In October 1956 he was elected a member of the workers' council at the Southern Hungarian Electricity Supply Company, for which reason he was dismissed in 1957 and could only undertake manual work. Between 1958 and 1966 he worked as a night watchman.
