* Bezdán, September 29, 1847 – † Selmecbánya, March 15, 1910 / physicist, academic teacher ; ; He completed his secondary schooling in Timișoara and Buda. In 1865–1869, he studied physics at the University of Vienna and took the teacher's exam, and in 1871 he obtained a doctorate in humanities. From 1869, he was a lecturer at the Selmecbánya Academy. He was an assistant professor in the chemistry and mathematics departments, an extraordinary professor from 1872 and a regular professor from 1878. In 1890, he received the title of mining councilor, and in 1894, he received the title of chief mining councilor. Within physics, he was primarily interested in the problems of electricity and advocated the introduction of electrical engineering as a subject at the Academy. In addition, he was interested in a wide range of natural sciences. For about forty years he conducted regular meteorological observations and measurements in Selmecbánya, but also dealt with meteorites and the birds of the area. He wrote popular articles about the latest inventions and technical discoveries (wireless telecommunications, X-rays, etc.). He was the founder of the Selmecbánya Medical and Natural Science Association. Between 1896 and 1907 he was the director and rector of the Academy on four occasions.
