Kisgaram, November 17, 1887 – † Budapest, April 28, 1973 / art historian ; ; From 1921 he was the chief expert of the Lantos Antiquarium in Budapest, then from 1938 he was the chief archivist of the Metropolitan Archives, the supervisor of the monuments of the capital. From 1941 to 1948 he was the director of the Kiscelli Museum of the Budapest History Museum. He is an internationally known researcher of the Baroque era, an expert on church buildings. At first he wrote small articles about the excellences of modern painting, then several books were published, mainly about Baroque churches and sculptures. Later he also dealt with engravings. Of his approximately one and a half hundred works, most of them are about Pest-Buda, such as his candidate dissertation entitled The History of Baroque Architecture in Óbuda and its Surroundings, but he also achieved significant results in the research of the art of Székesfehérvár in the 18th century.
