* Bratislava, April 23/24, 1864 – † Söchau, Austria, December 23, 1915 / physician, botanist, entomologist, moss researcher ; ; He completed his high school studies in his hometown, studied medicine at the University of Vienna, and obtained his medical degree in 1890. For a short time he was a demonstrator at the Botanical Institute of the University of Vienna, then between 1892 and 1896 he was a district physician in Tramin, South Tyrol, and from 1896 until his death in Söchau. He was already a botanist when he was a student, primarily studying the flora of Bratislava and its surroundings, but also dealing with beetles (especially the beetles – Rhynchitidae) and butterflies. He described several new genera, and many species bear his name.
