* Sopron, September 26, 1873 – † Sopron, January 7, 1961 / forestry engineer, university professor, Kossuth Prize winner (1955) ; ; He obtained a forestry engineering diploma from the Selmecbánya Mining and Forestry Academy in 1896. From 1907 he was a professor of silviculture, game and fish farming at the Selmec College, and from 1919 at the Sopron Mining and Forestry College. He retired in 1944, but taught at the college as an invited lecturer until 1959. He primarily dealt with silviculture issues. He introduced foreign tree species and established an arboretum in Selmecbánya in the 1910s. He developed new tree classification, stand renewal and pruning procedures. He was vice-president of the International Union of Forestry Research Institutes from 1929, president from 1932, and later honorary president.
