* Turdossin, December 13, 1860 – † Budapest, October 22, 1941 / meteorologist ; ; He began his school studies in his hometown, graduating from the gymnasium in Körmöcbánya. From 1877 he was a student at the Budapest Technical University, and in 1883 he obtained a teaching certificate in mathematics and physics. He taught at the Budapest Model Gymnasium until 1888, and in 1888 he was appointed assistant to the Meteorological Institute. Following the retirement of the then director, Miklós Konkoly Thege (Ógyalla), he was the director of the institute from 1912 to 1927. He was a founding member and first president of the Hungarian Meteorological Society, and the editor of Az Időjárás. In addition to his independent works, he wrote numerous original treatises, book reviews and other articles, which were mainly published in Az Időjárás, Földrajzi Közlemények, Teszetzetudományi Közlöny and Meteorologische Zeitschrift. He wrote the meteorological articles of the Pallas Nagy Lexikona. He was a pioneer of Hungarian climate research, the creator of meteorological and climatological literature, and an excellent and prolific practitioner. He is credited with organizing the research of the upper air layers. He compiled the series of various weather elements of Hungary covering the entire Carpathian Basin with extreme care and criticism, which he then published, examining them in a versatile and interconnected manner. He was an honorary member of the Hungarian Geographical Society and several foreign meteorological societies.
