Ferenc Reichental was born in Nagylégen in 1895. He was a painter and graphic artist. In 1920 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. In 1922 he became a member of the Slovak Artists' Association. In 1931 he opened a painting school for talented young people in Bratislava. He lived in Hungary during World War II, and in 1948 he permanently moved to the United States. At the beginning of his career he was mainly influenced by expressionism, but he was also interested in cubism. With his art he was one of the best Slovak modernists. His works are kept in numerous domestic and foreign galleries. He followed modern tendencies in the genres of portraiture, landscape painting and still life.
