Homecoming dance

The picture was taken in the Török pub in Alszegen, Felsőszeli. ; On the first of October, the young men went to Galántá to enlist. The girls decorated the wagons. If the young man was successful, the girls pinned a ribbon to his hat. The more famous the young man was, the more ribbons he received. Thus, decorated and singing in groups, they went around the village, letting the world know their aptitude for military life. Then they had fun with the others in the pub. The guests are sitting at the long table in the courtyard, on the right is the innkeeper, Ilona Török, next to her the innkeeper, Sándor Dobosy. Gypsy music is also playing along with the wine. In the back row are the recruits, whose hats have colorful ribbons hanging next to them, in memory of the big day. Although only nine people are sitting in this recording, the choir still enjoyed singing the following song half a century later: Twelve people are sitting at a long table, Hey, all twelve of them are talking about me. They are talking about me, they are taking me to be a soldier, I will serve my eight years, they will let me go home.
