* Modor, September 23, 1793 – † Vienna, July 14, 1861 / cartographer, geographical writer ; ; His father was an impoverished timber merchant. He attended high school and a secondary school in Vienna. After his study trip to France and Hungary, he entered a commercial career, managed small industrial and technical companies, and then became an employee of the imperial and royal post office in 1820. He worked hard to reform the postal service. He introduced the printing of maps in Vienna.
