Dénes Pál, the teacher uncle of the Balog Valley

Other - other

* Vámosbalog / local historian, public figure, teacher ; ; Our conversation with Uncle Dénes started easily. He got straight to the point, introducing his books. ; “Get to know your narrowest homeland!” - this was the title of my first article, which was published by Csemadok in 1969. It was a local history resource that was sent to schools to use. ; History is not my profession, although I also worked in the elementary school in Bátka at one time. I taught there during a period when Hungarian things were being suppressed by force. There was also a section in the history book where they dealt with Hungarians, but when we got to that part, there was a rule that we had to skip. But I didn’t go forward or back, because I was dealing with Hungarians at that time. I told the children about the origin and arrival of the Hungarians, I taught them about our ancestors. I realized that the children knew almost nothing about it. No wonder, because I didn’t know much about it before either. My poor grandmother loved fairy tales and legends. I also write in my book that I learned it sooner from him, "I'm going up, up to the battle", as well as "Small well, wheeled well ...", in other words, the folk songs. ; ; ; ; Dénes Pál: Balogvölgy's past and traditions
