István Pongo

* Sidewall, November 2, 1949 – / linguist, Germanist, associate professor ; ; Graduated from the Tornalja gymnasium (1967), worked in the Kovosmalt in Fülek from 1967 to 1968, graduated from the Hungarian-German department at the Nitra Teacher Training College from 1968 to 1972. In 1973 to 1974, he worked at the Schott und Gen factory in Jena. Between 1974 and 2006, he was an assistant professor and assistant professor at the Nitra Teacher Training College (later: Konstantin the Philosopher University), and between 1994 and 1998, he was the head of the Department of German Studies. In 1997, he was a visiting professor at the Cyril and Methodius University in Nagyszombat, in 1997–2007, an associate professor at the Pannonian University in Veszprém, and since 2005, a lecturer at the university's doctoral school. Since 2006, he has been an associate professor at the Selye János University in Komárom. He obtained his candidate's degree in linguistics in 1984 at the Teacher Training College in Güstrov (NDK). He obtained his doctorate in interlinguistics at the Esperanto University of San Marino (Akademio Internacia de la Sciencoj) in 1999. His research interests include German studies, the methodology of teaching the German language, and practical issues of dictionary creation. He is a participant and lecturer at numerous Slovak and international scientific conferences. He is the editor-in-chief and co-editor of about 10 volumes of studies. He is one of the founders of the journal Zeitschrift für Germanistische Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft der Slowakei and co-editor of its first four issues. His scientific publications appear in Slovak, Hungarian, Czech and international journals. He is a co-author of various dictionaries. ; ; His main works: ; Valence in the teaching practice - I.
