* Korompa, September 25, 1748 – † Selmecbánya, August 29, 1811 / chemist, academic teacher ; ; Before starting his studies at the Selmecbánya Academy, he worked at the Szomolnok copper works from 1774, and at the Bánya Bisztergom silver smelter from 1780. He graduated from the Academy at his own expense in 1781–1784, where he was an assistant professor at the metallurgy-chemistry-mineralogy department from 1786, a professor at the mathematics-physics-mechanics department from 1789–1791, and finally, from 1792 until his death, he was the head of the metallurgy-chemistry-mineralogy department, succeeding Antal Ruprecht (Szomolnok), who had left for Vienna. He published the material of his lectures in a high-quality 4-volume textbook: Anleitung zur metallurgischen Chemie I – IV., 1805.
