* Fűr, June 29, 1939 – / oil and gas engineer, university professor, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; ; graduated in 1957, obtained a diploma in oil engineering from the Technical University of Heavy Industry in Miskolc in 1962. In 1969–1970, he was a postgraduate student at the Scuola Enrico Mattei in Milan. From 1962, he was an employee and department head of various oil companies. Between 1980–1988, he was the department head of the Hungarian Hydrocarbon Research and Development Institute. From 1988–1991, he was a scientific consultant to an engineering office in Austria, and in 1992, he was assigned to manage the Oil and Gas Laboratory of the Hungarian Oil and Gas Company, and from 2000, he was a chief consultant. He has been a university lecturer since 1968, and in 1992 he was appointed professor at the University of Miskolc. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences elected him a corresponding member in 1998 and a full member in 2004. His research interests include the planning, control and management of oil and gas production, the mining technology of oil and gas fields and underground gas storages, as well as reservoir technology. He formulated the hydrodynamics and principles of the development of so-called double-porosity reservoirs and underground gas storages. He was awarded the Széchenyi Prize in 2009.
