* Steffultó/Selmecbánya, June 5, 1846 – † Timisoara, September 11, 1913 / religious teacher, biologist, zoologist, stenographer ; ; Born in the Steffultó mining settlement belonging to Selmecbánya, he entered the Piarist order in 1863 and was ordained a priest in 1870. In 1881, as a Piarist, he obtained a teaching certificate in natural history and chemistry, in 1883 a doctorate in humanities in Kolozsvár and at the same time he obtained a university private teacher qualification. In 1871, he obtained the then rare stenographer teaching certificate. He worked as a teacher and director in various religious high schools (Podolin, Nagykanizsa, Vác, Trenčín, Nyíregyháza, Selmecbánya). In 1909, he moved from Selmecbánya to Timisoara. He presented almost every school with some kind of natural history collection (snails, shells, marine animals), and he donated microscopic preparations to the Podolin gymnasium. He enriched our zoological literature with descriptions of observations based on his own research and dissection. He also dealt with botany and microscopic fungi.
