* Szolcsány, July 21, 1837 – † Körmöcbánya, January 9, 1925 / landowner, chamberlain, historian ; ; son of Ágoston Odescalchi. He completed his high school studies in Bratislava, and his university studies in Pest, Vienna and Leipzig. In the 1850s and 1860s, he mostly lived in Switzerland with his maternal aunts living in exile (with the widow of Count Lajos Batthyány and the wife of Count György Károlyi). He also served in the papal army, and upon returning home, he became the commander of the Nitra battalion as a captain in the reorganized Hungarian army. He was a member of parliament several times in the 1870s and 1880s. In 1896, he became a member of the House of Lords. He had estates in various regions of the country (Somogy County, Szerémség, Nyitra County) and was prone to eccentricity. He decorated one of his castles in a medieval style, surrounded by a moat, and the staff welcomed him in medieval attire when he returned home. If a distinguished guest visited him, he was greeted with two cannon shots from the parapet. He was interested in history, heraldry, archaeology and genealogy.
