Gabor Nevizánszky

* Ipolyszakállos, August 18, 1949 – / archaeologist ; ; He started his schooling in his native village in 1955, and graduated from Ipolyság in 1967. He completed his archaeological studies at the Comenius University in Bratislava in 1973. He obtained his doctorate in humanities in 1979. Since 1973, he has been an employee of the Institute of Archaeology of the SZTA in Nitra. He defended his candidate's thesis in 1982. In the 1990s, he spent two years in Saarbrücken, Germany, as a Humboldt scholar. His research area is the archaeology of the history of the Carpathian Basin from the 6th to the 12th centuries: primarily the period of migration and the Hungarian conquest. He has conducted archaeological excavations in many places in southern Slovakia (Bajcs, Zsitvabesenyő, Ipolyvisk, Léva and its surroundings, Sidewall, Osgyán, etc.). His studies have been published in Slovak, Hungarian and German journals, yearbooks and study volumes.
