The Nagymegyer Eleven-Year Secondary School opened in September 1957. The school started with two classes. The first 63 students came from schools in Nagymegyer and the surrounding villages. In the years 1960-69, 457 students graduated in the school's 16 full-time graduating classes, and 34 students in the 3 evening classes. The picture shows one of the school's classes in the early sixties, with principal István Jakab and class teacher Mária Tankó.
