In 1949, the Nagymegyer District was established. After that, the Nagymegyer District Committee building was built in the city center. This building is visible in the photo taken in the first half of the 1950s. The Nagymegyer District was abolished in 1960, and after that, the building housed the classes of the Agricultural Technical School. Then, from the 1970s, the Nagymegyer Slovak Language Elementary School and High School moved into the building.
